Today, December 16th is Jane Austen's birthday. Did you know that in my sweet contemporary romance “Love at the Library” the main characters celebrate Jane Austen's birthday? Here's a little excerpt from the story, which you can get for only 99c this week only! In this chapter, Megan and Levi are out on a date at a big holiday lights festival in the park when they spot a food truck selling cupcakes.

Near the tree, Levi spotted a “Hey Cupcake” truck. “I’m hungry,” he decided aloud. “Wanna get some dessert?”
“Sure,” Megan agreed. They each picked out a luscious-looking cupcake.
“You know,” she said as they walked away from the stand, “today is Jane Austen’s birthday.”
“Oh yeah!” Levi exclaimed. “I should have remembered. I’ve only seen the sign for it in the library this whole month. I’d forgotten it was today, though. Hey, we’ve got our cakes now. We should sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to her.” He proceeded, in very loud, bravado fashion, to sing the song in Jane’s honor, making Megan laugh all the more as he did, despite the strange looks they were getting from other people.
They sat down to eat their cupcakes.
“I usually celebrate Jane’s birthday every year by making tea and scones and watching the whole six-hour Pride and Prejudice miniseries. You know, the one with Colin Firth in it.”
“Is that what you’d be doing right now, if we weren’t here?” Levi asked.
Megan shook her head. “Nope. I left my DVD collection back in Santa Fe. Didn’t have enough room for it when I came out here. Truth be told, I don’t even have a TV at my place.”
“When’s your next day off?” Levi wanted to know.
“I have a half-day on Sunday. I’m still working at the coffee shop in the morning, but the craft store is closed on Sundays, thankfully.”
“How about we see if the library has a copy of the series, or rent it online? I bet it’s on Hulu or Prime. If we have enough time, we can watch Pride and Prejudice and Zombies too. Did you know they made a movie about it?”
Megan nodded. “I watched it once when it came out in theaters earlier this year.”
“We should watch it together! I finished the book the other day. It was great! Then I found out there was another one called Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters, and I started reading that one,” Levi told her.
Megan was so pleased to see Levi taking an interest in Jane Austen. She made plans with him to come over to his place after she got off work on Sunday, and they would have a big movie marathon together.
